Parents Organization

Congressional Schools Parents Organization

The Congressional Schools Parents Organization, CSPO, is an association of parents and guardians of Congressional students.  The group works to strengthen the special community connection that exists at school by sponsoring family fun activities, offering volunteer programs that connect the school with its neighboring communities, and coordinating fund raising efforts to benefit the school.

 Community Service Activities

Through CSPO, Congressional families can host birthday parties for children at Shelter House, an area homeless shelter…donate gently used coats to help needy children stay warm in the coldest winter months…donate children’s books to community organizations that promote literacy…make crazy hats to bring smiles to children at Fairfax Hospital…and a whole lot more.

Family Fun Events

Fulfilling its mission to connect Congressional families, CSPO sponsors a host of activities that offer pure family fun.  Past events have included Movies Under the Stars, Family Bingo Night, Festival of Lights Winter Celebration, Family Bowling, and more.  A few fun events that are offered even give parents a night out.

Appreciating and Improving the School

CSPO leads the charge for school families in offering thanks to the faculty and staff through regular appreciation activities.  They have also recently taken on activities to improve the school through the new Toolbox Club, a group that offers “sweat equity” to help the staff care for the building and grounds.

 Exchange Coordination

CSPO helps school families by collecting used textbooks and uniforms and passing them along to families with younger children.

 The Parents Council of Washington

Congressional is a member of the Parents Council of Washington, an organization representing parents from over 55 local independents schools.  Its purpose is to promote a better understanding of the mission of independent schools and offer “best practice” resources to members.

Additional programs offered by the CSPO are described in the listing on how to volunteer, Or, you can contact the organization directly at cspo@bach.csov.org.
