Director of Finance and Operations
Congressional School has an opportunity for a Director of Finance & Operations who will be responsible for all areas relating to the school’s business, operations, accounting and financial management functions. The Director of Finance & Operations will be responsible for fiscal planning and forecasting; administering and managing all budgets; and developing and maintaining accounting practices and procedures to ensure accurate, complete and timely internal and external financial reporting. The Director of Finance and Operations works with the Head of School to set the overall direction and strategy for school-wide facilities and maintenance initiatives and is responsible for managing preventative maintenance agreements, managing vendors, contract negotiations, project management, vendor relations, cost saving initiatives, equipment upgrades, and issue resolutions. The Director of Finance & Operations will collaborate with the Head of School and the administrative team to achieve the school’s mission and program goals as well as to formulate strategic initiatives and allocate school resources that will enhance the overall learning environment at Congressional. The Director will have a strong work ethic, high energy level, be detail oriented, motivated and flexible, take the initiative, think strategically, be a strong thought leader; exhibit integrity and discretion; and work collaboratively with colleagues and other constituents. The Director will be a strong team player and have the ability and desire to work tactically and strategically, as necessary.
Responsibilities include managing budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, human resources, real estate and insurance activities for the school; analyzing all aspects of the school’s financial position, making appropriate recommendations and issuing periodic financial, operating and annual reports; and providing a high level of forecasting and data analysis, and makes data driven decisions. Additional duties include negotiating key contracts and expense agreements with vendors, including, but not limited to, insurance contracts, facilities maintenance contracts and rental agreements; identifying and managing preventative maintenance and capital project initiatives including buildings, mechanical systems, and equipment; and directing new construction/renovation project management including budget management and compliance.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and minimum five years’ experience in accounting or financial management. Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ experience supervising accounting staff, and a CPA, CMA and/or MBA strongly preferred. Qualified candidates will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, along with attention to detail; substantial experience using Excel to model and analyze financial issues in support of decision making; experience with strategic plan implementation, and creative, effective management and leadership.

Congressional School has an opportunity for a School Bus Driver who will be responsible for safely operating the school bus according to a set daily schedule and/or special assignment. The Driver must ensure that the school bus is in good operating condition at all times, pick up and drop off students as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the bus and obey all laws, regulations and rules of conduct.
This is a part-time position, with guaranteed four hours per day. The position requires two shifts, a morning shift from 6:00am -- 8:00am, and an afternoon shift from 2:45pm -- 4:45pm. There are also opportunities for field trips which would involve mid-day hours. Valid CDL with school bus endorsement is required, with at least one year of experience preferred.
