Coaching PhilosophyCongressional's Climbing Wall

Congressional's athletic coaching policy is not based on winning. Winning is a by-product of player commitment, skill, character and teamwork.

Commitment
Commitment is a personal determination and resolve to do your best for the team. Commitment also means encouraging others and striving toward a single, common goal. Congressional emphasizes commitment over competition.

Skill
Congressional athletes are taught to recognize
situations, make courageous decisions, and take
responsibility for consequences.

Character
Character is much more easily kept than recovered.
Congressional teaches athletes that who you are on
the field is an extension of who you are off the field.
As such, it is important for students to understand that
their behavior as an athlete has consequences in their
social life, and reflects both upon their family and their
school.

Teamwork
Teamwork means working for the good of the many
and sacrificing the good of the one. Only athletes with
character and commitment to the team can truly function
within a team.
