Physical Education & Athletics

Health, well being, and attitude are central to Congressional's physical education and athletics program. Our goal: to build a lifelong commitment to activity and fitness. Children learn skills, games and the values of sportsmanship that contribute to a healthy social life.

Congressional's comprehensive program begins with twice-weekly classes in Early Childhood through Lower School. Daily classes begin in Middle School. These classes are conducted in outstanding facilities, particularly our gymnasium, multiple playing fields, and swimming pools.

Congressional offers students a strong after-school and intramural athletic program. The Congressional Colts compete within the Capital Athletic Conference, with Junior Varsity (grades 5-6) and Varsity (grades 7-8) soccer, basketball, softball, and co-ed cross-country and track and field teams. The teams are coached by members of our full-time teaching staff, and every aspect of our program maximizes the opportunities for both boys and girls to participate, and experience the rewards of participation.

This Team Works! Congressional athletes are successful because of their attitude. Winning is a by-product of player commitment, skill, character and teamwork.
