Ways to Give

Matching Gifts
One way to enhance the power of your Annual Giving donation is through a corporate matching gift. Many employers match donations to educational institutions. You can double or triple the total amount of your gift if your company participates in this program.
Check with your personnel or human resources department for details on obtaining a matching gift form for Congressional Schools. Many companies will match gifts made by their Board of Directors and retirees of their organization.

Thank you to all of our area organizations that match gifts!

Cash
A gift of cash is the most popular type of charitable gift. Make a gift online or mail your gift directly to the school.

Gift of Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities.

Tangible Personal Property
Gifts of appreciated personal property such as paintings, library books, cars, or musical instruments entitle donors to a charitable deduction at market value if the use of such property is directly related to Congressional's educational functions.

Real Estate
There are three common methods of transfer: outright deeding of the property to Congressional, a gift of the property with retained life income through a gift of annuity or charitable remainder trust, or a gift of a personal residence or farm with retained life tenancy.

Retirement Plan Assets
Designate Congressional Schools as a beneficiary of a retirement plan.  This is an easy way to make a bequest to Congressional and avoid both income and estate taxes on your gift.

Life Insurance
Name Congressional as the owner and beneficiary on your life insurance policy.

Gifts-in-Kind
Any item that doesn't carry a valid professional appraisal comes under the heading of gifts-in-kind.  Donations of office equipment or other valuable items given to the school for use in classrooms, offices, etc. are very much appreciated.

Memorial and Named Gifts
Opportunities exist within the school for named gifts or special memorials to honor a family member, friend, or loved one. Contact the Development Office for more information.

Safeway, Giant and Harris Teeter Educational Support Programs
If you don't already have them, sign up for a Giant Bonus Bucks card, A Safeway Club card and a VIC card from Harris Teeter. You can get them on your next visit to these stores.  Then all you have to do is go online and designate Congressional as the school you wish to receive points.  That's it!  Your purchases will automatically be credited to Congressional.

Combined Federal Campaign
Through the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area, federal workers and military personnel can designate funds to go to the charitable organizations of their choice.  Congressional has been the beneficiary of such donations over the past several years.  When making your Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) donation, please consider Congressional. Our CFC number is 40837 .

The Commemorative Brick Campaign
The Commemorative Brick Campaign began as a gift from the 2002 Graduating Class.  We now offer the opportunity to the entire Congressional community to be a part of the “Congressional Way” pathway in the Congressional Circle by offering the Commemorative Brick Campaign as an on-going program.

The 4” x 8” bricks can be used to honor individuals – students (parents, grandparents, teachers, special friends), groups (classes, teams), or special occasions.

In addition to the brick to be placed in the "Congressional Way," you will receive a "mini brix" which is yours to keep as a remembrance.  Donation amount is $100 per 4” x 8” brick.  Contact the Development Office for further details.
