The Congressional Fund: A Family of Annual Funds

The Congressional Fund supplements Congressional's operating budget, enabling the school to continue to develop and grow.  Tuition covers only 89% of the cost of educating each child, which makes The Congressional Fund such an important ingredient in our financial mix.  The fund supports every aspect of student life, from classroom enhancements and athletic and science and technology lab equipment to faculty professional growth and development and resources for fine and performing arts.  Gifts to The Congressional Fund make a difference between a strong program and an exceptional one.  Your gift to The Congressional Fund helps maintain and strengthen the schools’ entire program, and benefits all students in countless ways.

Our Family of Annual Funds is structured to allow you to support the areas of greatest need with an unrestricted contribution, allowing your gift to be used where it is needed most.  Alternatively, you can direct your donation to a specific area of support according to your preferences.

Your Gift is Appreciated

We have identified nine crucial areas of need that require the most consistent support to help you decide where to direct your gift:

Areas of Greatest Need
If your desire is to demonstrate your financial support with a generous unrestricted gift to the school, we will accommodate that desire by applying your gift to a budgeted area where it is most needed.  We thank you for your support and trust.

Renovation and Renewal
Your gift will help us to maintain a safe and healthy facility, which is fundamental to affording our students a peaceful, secure environment in which to learn and grow.

Performing Arts and Fine Arts
Our mission is to inspire personal creativity and individual expression through the fine arts and music as integral parts of a complete education at Congressional.  Your gift will help us to achieve these goals.

Athletics
Health, well-being, and attitude are central to Congressional's physical education and athletics programs.  A strong body and mind befits our students' commitment to overall excellence and helps keep them focused on their educational goals.  Your gift will help us to enrich our commitment to athletic excellence.

Technology
Integrating technology across the curriculum is a school-wide priority, as is maintaining up-to-date hardware and software.  Technological tools, such as are installed in our two technology labs, offer unprecedented opportunities for students to discern answers to questions that ultimately pose new questions for them to ponder--in other words, technology allows students access to untold knowledge.  Your gift will help us to keep this knowledge flowing.

Libraries
Both our Early Childhood Programs and Lower & Middle Schools buildings house their own age-appropriate libraries.  Our school librarian is available to assist students in taking advantage of a wide variety of resources housed in these libraries--resources that offer seemingly unlimited opportunities for individual, educational growth.  Your gift will assure that we can keep our libraries up-to-date as far as these resources are concerned.

Dollars for Scholars
The Congressional Schools of Virginia strives to maintain a diverse student body that also encompasses varied, economic backgrounds.  Financial aid is available to academically-qualified students who demonstrate financial need.  Your gift to this fund helps assure that future generations of Congressional students will continue to benefit from the school's unique opportunities for growth and development.

Professional Development
Outstanding faculty is a key ingredient in ensuring Congressional's academic and instructional excellence.  This fund offers our faculty opportunities and financial support for ongoing professional growth and development.  Your gift will help ensure that our teachers meet or surpass their goals in this regard.

Head of School Discretionary Fund
This fund provides the Head of School the means to offer financial support for events or opportunities not anticipated in the budgeting process.  Your gift will help this fund to remain at appropriate levels.

The Congressional Fund Family of Annual Funds supports the Congressional Schools of Virginia's operating budget.  In the event of over-funding in one or more programs, the Board of Regents reserves the right to re-allocate contributions as needed.
