Technology

At Congressional, technology is fully integrated into the curriculum.  The technology integration program uses the technology standards put forth by The International Society for Technology in Education. These technology standards focus on using technology as a tool for teaching and learning to enhance instructional strategies and augment curricular areas. Teachers, students and administrators are required to continuously build skill in using technology applications that support academic objectives. Projects are designed to emphasize learning that is long-term, interdisciplinary, student-centered, and integrated with real world issues and practices.  All of these factors expand the scope of the curricula in innovative ways.  The academic technology tools and applications support the context for the curriculum targeted.  Presenting the curriculum in conjunction with technology integration targets the skills put forth by the Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) in a report produced by the Secretary of Labor.  The report outlines various skills that young people will need to practice for work-related success in the future.

Congressional is fully dedicated to ensuring that teaching and learning reflect modern pedagogy. A Global Technology Project and a National Award for CSOV Students

Congressional 6th grade students participated this past school year in a national technology contest.  The competition challenged middle and high school teams to develop and present an engaging and dynamic videoconferencing program about their community.

The videoconferencing program is to be used as a learning tool in classrooms internationally.  Two Congressional teams entered the competition with one team placing second nationally in the middle school division.  The winning videoconference presentation was entitled "Presidential Memorials," in which the team explored the Washington, Lincoln and FDR Memorials.
